Eight Year Gap

For so long it was just Kimara(15) and I. We pretty much grew up together, literally doing homework together, and learning life together. By the time she turned 6 I just knew I wasn’t having any more children and I was totally OK with that.

.....Then BOOM 2 years later here comes Kayden(7)!!

During my pregnancy I had many conversations with Kimara explaining to her that the baby will require a lot of mommies time and attention. It that I don’t want her to feel like that will take away from her. And that since she will be the big sister she can help out a lot. Those talks seemed to help her understand and she was excited to help.  Until he was able to walk around and get into her stuff that is!

As time went on I had to make sure we had our family time but still each kid had their one in one time as well. When I tell you trying to find things we could all do was the toughest thing ever OMG, not only was the age gap an issue but their different genders as well. Even the smallest thing like picking a movie was tough. For a while we had pizza and movie night every Friday and each took turns picking a movie that was the only way to fix that situation. Let's not forget to throw in the chaos when we have Trinity my #BonusDaughter for the weekend, it can really get complicated.  Her and Kayden are the same exact age, but they certainly are not into the same things what so ever..

Now I do a mommy/son day and a mommy/daughter day so I can get that quality time in with each.  Sometimes we even invite other mommy son/ daughter duos.  These Mommy Dates really are productive in getting to known that particular child better and allowing them to be free to talk about anything.

During the week if we don’t go on  a #MommyDate I’ll do something simple as watching a TV series with just Kimara and I. Boy let me tell you she be on me about it too, she will not let me forget!!

Now Kayden, is a sports nut so we spend our time doing drills or watching sports clips, he gets super excited about it and wants to show me a million things; but I like sports so it’s always a fun time for both of us.

Trinity on the other hand loves anything girlie! So we get out time in doing things like painting each others nails, this gives us time to catch up!
